This is a comparison of what the PS2 launched with on 10/26/2000, and what the DC lauched as on 9/9/99.

As it shows below, in numbers, the PS2 launch list is the clear winner. Now, I'd like to talk about values, and my personal preferences.

I bought a DC with one game, one extra controller, and one VMU. That cost me $300 even. If I did the same thing with the PS2 it would cost $420. The first month I bought Sonic Adventure and TXR also, for a total of $390, $400 for the sake of this list. So, the cost of all DC hardware I bought, per game I owned at the end of the first month was $83.33, so each game cost me $133.33, not counting rentals, or availability of other games.

If I were to do the same thing with the PS2, the hardware would cost me $123.33 per game, and each game would cost $173.33. I think the DC wins out in value per game hands down, especially since the games are of the same graphical quality, i.e. the PS2 is not higher quality as promised & paid.

This is not even the current situation however, the Dreamcast has quite a few more games than 19 now, and a good chunk of them can be found for less than $30, and most to all of these launch games are now less than $20.
